Advanced Aero Services (AAS) has announced the launch of its aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility in Shreveport, Louisiana to provide aviation maintenance and other services to airlines in North America and beyond.

Under the leadership of President Mike Anderson, AAS will base its operations at Shreveport Regional Airport. Shreveport Regional currently is served by four airlines that provide service to seven major destinations and more than 250 connections.

“We look forward to building out the aviation services offered at Shreveport Regional and making this region our base of operations. Advanced Aero Services’ mission is to provide a strong foundation of safe, high quality MRO services through solid process, innovation and motivated employees,” said Anderson.

Anderson has more than 30 years of experience in MRO management in both commercial and military programs with revenue budgets of $150 million. The management team Anderson has assembled is a highly experienced group of aviation experts.

Advanced Aero Services is projected to create more than 60 direct jobs by 2021, with projections near 500 by year four and over 1,000 by year six.

“Shreveport Regional is in close proximity to six major airline hubs serving North America and international destinations. Thanks to Barksdale Air Force Base and Southern University at Shreveport Louisiana’s (SUSLA) Aerospace and Aviation Maintenance Program, Shreveport has a well-trained labor force that is ready to support the expansion of this key industry,” said Shreveport Mayor Adrian Perkins. “Louisiana Economic Development’s (LED) suite of incentives and the low cost of doing business in Shreveport makes our area an attractive location for this growing industry.”

Initial services to be offered include aviation parts manufacturing; airline maintenance and modifications supporting major and regional airlines, original equipment manufacturers and leasing companies; business and commercial aircraft supplemental type certificate engineering development; and government program support.

Anderson stated that operations will expand with the construction of additional hangar facilities to accommodate large transport category aircraft.

AAS is a portfolio company of the Entrepreneurial Accelerator Program (EAP), a public-private partnership between local government and BRF (formerly Biomedical Research Foundation) to provide services to innovative startups that have high growth potential.

“This exciting project has been in development for about two years. We thank the former and current city administrations for their help and recognize our Shreveport Regional Airport leadership for their support,” said Dave Smith, EAP Executive Director. “AAS is a great example of industry, city and federal government and university collaboration for economic development. This successful EAP model is launching and growing companies in North Louisiana.”

AAS will host a job fair in conjunction with SUSLA. Details will be announced at a later date.
